The Carleton College
Geology Department offers a 10 week long field-based seminar on the geology
of Italy every two years in the late summer and fall. The program
is directed by Dave Bice (standing left) and Sandro Montanari (standing
right) with the assistance of 2-4 former students, and involves 24 Carleton
geology majors. The program emphasizes the development of basic field
skills and the investigation of the structural and stratigraphic evolution
of the Northern Apennines and the Dolomites.
