Stream Input

 

All crude and other streams (not originating from blocks located elsewhere in the flowsheet) must be defined by user.  In addition, estimates for recycle streams must be provided.  All streams are defined using the Stream Input form accessed by right clicking on the respective stream.

 

            Stream Type

           

The Stream Type field indicates that the type of stream represented.  Options include Crude and Non Crude.

 

Stream Name

 

Each stream name may contain a maximum of ten characters.  If the stream is a crude oil, the name must be chosen from the offered list.  The list includes all crudes with assays defined in the file bearing the same name as the crude (with the suffix.mod) and in the directory identified by the File | Model Dir menu.

 

In order to create a new crude assay file, use the Edit | Submodel/Crude menu command prior to entering stream data.

 

Rate

 

A volume (RateV) or a weight (RateW) basis must be specified for each block.

 

SG/API

 

The specific gravity (SG) or API density (API) must be entered except for crude oil streams.

 

Properties

 

The Properties field may be left blank for crude streams.  However, the Properties must be specified for Non Crude streams.  The list of properties available is presented at the end of this topic.  Additional properties may be defined by using General Input form.  Property names must be spelled verbatim for the blender input and submodels.

 

PropX and PropY are any user-defined properties that may be calculated based on linear mixing rules by weight basis (for example, thepercentage weight iron in a mixture).   The process submodels that incorporate the properties for calculations must be consistent in the interpretation of the values.  PropA and PropB are similar in function but defined for volume blending properties.

 

Certain stream properties must be defined if the simulator is to perform the block calculations.  For process submodels, if the feed properties required to calculate product yields (and SG) are missing, a fatal error is indicated.  Many properties have default values of zero.  This is usually true for contaminants (such as SUL and NIT).  Other properties, such as viscosity and RON, have no default values.  Such properties must be defined for blocks whose submodels use the properties during calculations.

 

A list of properties that are supported by PetroPlanâ is presented.  Additional properties may be defined using the General Input form.  The units of measure must be consistent with those used by the process submodels (for example, RVP may be in psia, kPa or KgCm2).
