This page creation was supported with funds from the Wilson Education Grant Award from the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences. The intention is to provide students a better understanding of chemical structures related to Fuel and Energy issues. If you have suggestions for other structures please email them to me and please fill out the evaluation form.

All the structures shown here were generated with the assistance of the SIGNATURE program. See:

Low-Rank Coal

This model was generated by Leigh Clemo a graduate student working in the CRC for Clean Power from Lignite (Australia). It is an early venture into the low-rank coals and the model has yet to be refined but notice the significant amounts of water in the structure and the high hydrogen and oxygen content.

Bituminous Vitrinite

This model was generated while I was a graduate student working on my thesis in the Energy Institute.

Anthracite

This model was generated by Peter Pappano pjp132@email.psu.edu a graduate student working in the Energy Institute.
