Homework

Weekly home assignments are due the following Thursdays by 5 pm, and should be turned in by placing them in the appropriate slot in the box outside of 304 Steidle. Homework papers which are more than 24 hours late will be penalized 30% of the total possible points. Homework papers turned in later than one week will receive a score of 0. Graded papers will be placed in the rack outside of 304.

Exams

There will be two in-class quizzes and two exams in this course:

First quiz - 14 September

Second quiz - 9 November; covers material from 1st exam onward

First exam - 17 October, 6:30-7:45 PM, location TBA

Second exam - during scheduled final exam period

The second exam will emphasize the material covered during the 8th-15th week period, but will, to some extent, require use of concepts and techniques covered during the first 7 weeks.

Several weeks are usually required to complete the grading of the exams. Graded exams will be placed in the rack outside of 304. A summary of the results for each exam for the whole class will be posted.

Grades

Homework - 25%; quizzes - 25% for both; exams - 25% each;

Final course grades

> ~ 80% = A ~ 80% - ~ 70% = B ~ 70% - ~ 60% = C ~ 60% - ~ 50% = D

± grades will probably be ~ ±1% around these cutoffs.

Warning 1:

No changes in final course grades will be made after they are assigned. The only exception to this is if a grading error is detected. There is no opportunity to do extra work, take extra exams, etc., for the purpose of changing an F to a D, etc., after letter grades have been assigned.

The best procedure is take steps to increase your grade before the end of the semester. Please see the instructors for help any time you think you may be having problems.

From time to time, grade summaries will be posted on these web pages; please check them for accuracy.

Warning 2:

Any cases of academic dishonesty will be dealt with on an individual basis and strictly according to published University procedures.
