Academic Integrity

The structure of MatSE 492W is such that we have little difficulty with cheating and related problems. In fact, group effort is strongly encouraged. Sharing of ideas and materials is part of the 492 thing.

On the other hand, plagiarism is not appropriate, and will be penalized through a grade reduction. On occasion, you may wish to include a statement in a paper which is taken verbatim from someone else's work; this should always be in quotes, and appropriate credit given to the author via a reference.

Furthermore, do not even think of turning in a paper which contains sections of writing from a paper written by someone else on your team. Both team members will be penalized. Team members should share their papers, materials, and ideas, but the writing in your paper should reflect your own individual style, organization, and interpretation.
