Notes on using the Metallurgy-L mailing list
(from Timothy C. Eisele, Mich. Tech.)

This mailing list is unmoderated, but it is a "closed" list, meaning
that only addresses subscribed to the list can post to it. If a post
comes from a non-subscribed address, it will be "bounced" to me for
approval. Sometimes, email addresses change without warning, and so
your mail may start being bounced to me even if you are already a
subscriber. When this happens, I will unsubscribe your old address,
and resubscribe you under the new address. You will get a "welcome
to the list" message whenever I have to do this. It's nothing to
worry about.

Anything that is sent to the address metallurgy-l@mtu.edu by a
subscriber will be immediately distributed to all subscribers.

Any subscribe/unsubscribe requests for the metallurgy-l mailing
list should be sent to majordomo@mtu.edu (the mailing list manager
program). These requests should be email messages, with the request
in the body of the message, and of the form

subscribe metallurgy-l

unsubscribe metallurgy-l

(be sure to send such requests to majordomo@mtu.edu, *not* to
metallurgy-l@mtu.edu

To send a message to the sci.engr.metallurgy newsgroup, send your
message to metallurgy-l@mtu.edu, or directly to me with a request to
post it for you. When I receive it, I will forward it to the Usenet
newsgroup under your name, unless you ask me not to, or it is clearly
of interest only to metallurgy-l subscribers. Junk mail (chain
letters, automatic replies from misconfigured mailers, etc.) will not
be forwarded.
